Manny Cortez murder list is very extensive, and he was labeled as a s*xual sadist because he was involved in several abductions, attempted kidnappings, and assaults on teenage girls in California during the 1970s.
After the 1970s, he relocated to Oregon and committed the horrifying double murder of two 11-year-old friends named Rachel Isser and Deanna Jackman in December 1979.
The bodies of Isser and Jackman were discovered suffocated and subjected to s*xual abuse.
Cortez was later arrested for the murders and faced a trial in 1980 for claiming Jackman’s life.
Unfortunately, the judge could not reach a final decision.
Thankfully, he was found guilty in the next trial in both cases.
He also confessed to a separate kidnapping incident in 1977 and is still considered a potential suspect in various other unsolved cases.
According to some official reports, he is serving a life sentence at the Oregon State Penitentiary prison.
Oxygen’s show, ‘Violent Minds: Killers on Tape,’ will explore his crimes using recorded conversations between him and psychiatrist Dr. Al Carlisle.
An upcoming episode titled “Manny Cortez Part 1” aired on the channel on Sunday, May 14, 2023.
Its outline reads as follows:
“Dr. Carlisle begins a surprising relationship with inmate Manny Cortez in the Oregon State Penitentiary and uncovers the impetus for Cortez’s murder of two 11-year-old girls.”
The authorities accused and convicted Cortez in the killings and torture of two 11-year-old Oregon girls. He remains a suspect in other cold cases.
Manny Cortez murdered two 11–year-old girls after r*ping them
According to Oxygen, the Associated Press reported that two 11-year-old girls named Rachel Isser and Deanna Jackman went missing.
The community last saw them when they played tennis at a park near Southern Oregon State College in Ashland, Oregon, on December 27, 1979.
After a few hours on the same day, Isser’s n*ked body was found by the police in the press box of a college football field, while Jackman’s body was found near a gravel pit at the border of Ashland after one day.
According to the autopsy reports of both girls, their cause of death was suffocation and s*xual abuse. He had harmed their bodies brutally.
The local police sent their largest team of detectives ever to this case.
However, after a complete investigation, they ruled him the possible suspect.
Cortez was born in Texas and grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, California, with his family.
According to an article published in 1993, Cortez was 19 years old when he received probation for attempting to kidnap a 17-year-old.
In the same year, police arrested him two times for more kidnapping, s*xual assault, and attempted r*pe of two teenage girls.
Fortunately for him, the charges against him didn’t proceed.
In 1977, he abducted a 16-year-old girl who managed to escape and identified him as a suspect.
This incident left him with nowhere to hide, so he moved to Oregon, where he committed the murders of Rachel Isser and Deanna Jackman.
The prosecutors labeled him as a s*xual sadist when he was 26 years old.
In 1980, he faced trial for the murder of Jackman, but the jury was not able to reach a sentence.
Later that year, a combined trial for the murders of Isser and Jackman resulted in his conviction.
In 1982 he pled guilty to the 1977 kidnapping and was also the prime suspect in other pending homicides.
